Jackie Goodman LungesWhy Jackie loves lunges:

Lunges are not only a great way to strengthen multiple muscles in the legs and hips but they burn tons of calories as well!

The primary muscles worked during the lunge are the glutes, hamstrings and quadriceps but In order to stabilize your body during a lunge you also work the calves, abdominals and back muscles.

These muscles keep the body strong as the other muscles do the work to move your body. Adding the Proformer or Megaformer machine into the mix makes your abs work even harder because you have to tighten the core to balance and stabilize your body. Using this many muscles at once makes your heart rate rise and your calorie burn increase!

Always be sure the shoulders are rolled back, the chest is lifted and the abdominal muscles are engaged. Be sure to keep the lunging leg’s knee vertically aligned on top of the heel. It should stay that way throughout the exercise. Do not allow the shin or the knee to move forward and back as you move up and down in your lunge (see below).

Add a bicep curl or other arm exercise to increase intensity! This will make this exercise even more effective at sculpting the booty and burning fat, while engaging multiple muscles, because it’s increasing your heart rate even more! BONUS!
